Our goal in Wolf3D is to bring humanity into VR/AR, games and other virtual experiences.
We are working to create virtual interactions between people that feel like the real deal.
Wolf3D has been working on 3D scanning people since 2014. We started from building a full body 3D scanning studio in Tallinn, Estonia and offering scanning service for creating game characters and custom mannequins.
We understood the potential virtual 3D avatars could have on the consumer market and decided to develop a 3D scanner that would make creating avatars cheaper and easier for consumers. The Luna 3D scanner was launched in the beginning of 2016, more than 10k people were scanned with our scanners last year. We took the average cost of creating an avatar down from $400 that most studios offer to almost $0. 😎 Our LA office was opened in 2016.
Create an avatar yourself for virtual worlds.
We realised from the very beginning that eventually a more scalable smartphone-based scanning solution has to be built to truly take 3D avatars to the masses. We found a way to use the scanning data we have already collected with our previous scanners to build a solution that would allow anyone to create an avatar themselves using just their own smartphone.
Our long term vision is to be the central hub and database for personal 3D avatars people use in virtual worlds for VR/AR communication, gaming, online shopping and many other applications.
Wolf3D is a partner of Stanford University Virtual Human Interaction Lab, whose main area of study is human digital representations in games and virtual reality.
